INEX has developed a great working relationship with Bilstein, and through the years, we have developed a testing procedure that includes shock testing at various tracks (using Bilsteins shock dyno truck), swap out testing (shocks are sent to Bilstein) and disassembly inspection (done by Bilstein).
INEX has obtained shocks found to have been tampered with (some with obvious external modifications and some without obvious external modifications), and in both cases, the shock dyno graph clearly showed the modification. All legal shocks that have been tested produce shock dyno graphs that are identical as the stock samples provided by INEX to establish the stock dyno graph.
INEX will continue to check shocks in the field using a number of tests that include exchanging your shock with a replacement for testing. As stated in the current INEX Rulebook - "Changing or altering the fluid inside is illegal. Altering or tampering with the shocks, or competing with same, will result in a six (6) month suspension for both driver and owner."
It also has been established that if a competitor is found a second time with tampered shocks, that competitor will be suspended indefinitely from all INEX-sanctioned events along with any company or individual involved in tampering with the INEX-stamped Bilstein shocks.
