Cold Temps Rule Round Seven

HARRISBURG, N.C. - Temperatures never rose much above freezing Sunday, but the sun was shining on the 108 cars on hand for round 7 of the INEX Winter Heat at Lowe's Motor Speeedway.

Despite the cold, the racing was still red hot. Clay Hair again had his hands full of David Denham in the Masters division. Denham started back in the field, and was able to almost chase Hair down for the Masters victory. However, it was a clean-sweep of the road course events for Hair. Denham was second with Eddie Harwell, John Davis and Robert Petry following.

Chrisitian Pahud made the move from Semi-Pro to Pro for the Winter Heat Series, and made the move pay off in round seven with a victory over road racer expert Rob Hall. Matt Stover was third with Mitchell Coble and Parker Hammons following.

Dylan Presnell finally unseated Jimmy Heavlow from the front of the Young Lions field, winning a three-way battle for the victory with Heavlow and Ryan Truex. Truex was second with Heavlow third. Austin Leitner continued his strong run with another top five as did 2007 Bandolero Young Guns champion Ronnie Bassett, Jr.

Steven Ross was victorious in the Semi-Pro division, holding off Dennis Kiser, Gene Kirila, Michael Brown and Jordan Penninger.

Drew Calhoun was again the winner in the Thunder Roadster division.

Kendall Sellers has been virtually unstoppable in Bandolero Outlaws competition for more than a year. He continued his dominance with another victory, even after a wheel broke off the car in practice. Nathan Rodgers was second with Bailey Daniels third, Dawn Eagens fourth and Jason Wells fifth.

Tanner Rumburg, was the winner of the Beginner Bandits, and earned the right to move to the regular Bandits division for the final Winter Heat race.

Blake Jones was back on top of the Bandits division Sunday, beating Dillon Bassett, Mason Hudson, Sean Shalvoy and Layne Clifton.

Ryan Glenski won the Bandolero Young Guns race with Chad Finchum in second. Kenny Brown, Tyler Hill and Robert Poole followed.

The final round of the INEX Winter Heat will take place Saturday, Jan. 26 at the fifth-mile track. Practice will 9 a.m. Make-up main events for the Beginner Bandits, Bandits and Young Guns from Dec. 12 will take place at 10:45 or immediately following the 10:30 driver's meeting.
