Many familiar faces visited victory lane including four repeat drivers from round four.
Rob Hall has been making quite a name for himself in the Pro Legends division, but this week returned to the cockpit of a Thunder Roadster. It took no time for Hall to pick up where he left off in Thunder Roadsters, taking an early lead and never relinquishing it in the 10-lap race. Last week's winner, Jesse Bunnell, was second with Adam Welch coming home third. Steve Carter was fourth and ESPN NASCAR analyst and former NBA basketball player Brad Daugherty finished fifth in his first outing at the road course. Other notable racers in the Thunder Roadster division included SPEED personality and former NASCAR crew chief Andy Petree and veteran driver Ken Schrader, who finished ninth and sixth respectively.
Tyler Green is always one of the toughest Pro drivers to beat on the infield road course, and Saturday was no exception. Green jumped to an early lead, and held off challenges by Dennis Lambert. Christian Pa Hud was third with Hall finishing fourth after charging from the rear. Tyler Green's dad, NASCAR veteran Mark Green, raced to a respectable fifth-place finish.
Steven Ross wasn't about to be the bridesmaid for a second-straight week, and worked passed John Ellenburg early in the Semi-Pro feature to collect the victory. Ellenburg finished second with U.K. driver Matt Harris third. Matt Lundstrom and Gene Kirila followed.
Clay Hair isn't used to being pressured during the Masters races at the infield road course, but Hair had to hold off a determined David Denham during the entire 8-lap race Saturday. Despite stalking Hair the entire race, Denham wasn't able to make the pass, and had to settle for second. Still the driver of the No. 33 was all smiles after the race.
"I just have to thank 600 Racing and INEX so much. For a guy like me to come out and have this much fun, it is just incredible," Denham said, but admitted he was exhausted after chasing Hair for the entire race.
Gary Shannon followed Hair and Denham across the line for third with Eddie Harwell and Jan Ingram in fourth and fifth.
Jimmy Heavlow continues to make it difficult on the Young Lions competitors, winning for the fourth-straight week. The No. 3 is getting to be an all too familiar sight at the front of the Young Lions field. Ronnie Bassett, Jr. was second with Tyler De Vault, Austin Leitner and Timmy Hill following.
Blake Jones is keeping the No. 80 up front in the Bandolero Bandits division as well. Jones won his third-straight Winter Heat event Saturday. Matt Wallace brought his No. 4w home in second with Sean Shalvoy, Jacob Harrell and Dillon Bassett rounding out the top five.
Kendall Sellers was again the class of the Outlaws field with Nathan Rodgers second. Bailey Daniels continues to run well, collecting her fifth third-place finish. Dawn Eagens was fourth with Jason Wells fifth.
Anthony Berube inherited the victory in the Beginner Bandits race after Tyler Rumburg was disqualified in post-race tech. In the original article posting, Kyle Donahue was credited with a fifth-place finish. The driver was actually Brian Kolb. We apologize for the error.
Chad Finchum won the Young Guns race after winner, Ryan Glenski, was disqualified in post-race tech. Corey Gordon was awarded second with Robert Poole, Dylan Barbian and Brett Pepicelli following.
