Keith Lorentzen, 1981-2007

BRASELTON, Ga. - Connecticut native Keith Lorentzen, of Nashville, Tenn., was fatally injured in a karting accident at a WKA Enduro Series Kart race at Road Atlanta Sunday afternoon (Nov. 4). He was competing in the Piston Port Can Sprint 380 class at the time of the accident.

Lorentzen, 27, was a regular competitor in the Dunlop Road Racing Series and the New Hampshire Karting Association as well as a RACEceiver Legends Car Semi-Pro competitor at Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tenn.

He was a member of Team Full Throttle. According to his website, 2007 was Lorentzen's 12th year in motorsports.

"It is a sad, tragic day for Mike and me, and for our entire organization," said Tom Baker of Team Full Throttle racing. "Team Full Throttle has lost one of our most passionate and dedicated members."

Initial reports of the accident, which is still under investigation, indicate another cart had went off course and came back on track, directly in front of the kart driven by Lorentzen. Lorentzen, at a high rate of speed, had no time to react. He was ejected from his kart.

600 Racing and INEX send our condolences to the entire Lorentzen family and crew.
