CONCORD, N.C. - More than 230 cars are registered for the opening round of the 14th Summer Shootout Series at Lowe's Motor Speedway Tuesday night.
This year's Summer Shootout looks to be one of the best with 40 Bandolero Bandit drivers already registered along with more than 45 RACEceiver Legends Car Semi-Pro racers. Both RACEceiver Legends Car Pro and Masters divisions also feature car counts in the 30s.
Here are some tips from Lowe's Motor Speedway to help opening night run smoothly. With more than 200 cars and eight divisions of 600 Racing cars, race nights will be jam-packed and on a tight time schedule.
MINOR WAIVERS - Anyone under the age of 18 must have a fully-completed minor waiver by BOTH parents or legal guardians before they will be admitted access to the Pit Area. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. The information is online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com/waivers.
MONDAY PRACTICES - The Pit Gates will open at 4 p.m. on Mondays with practice taking place from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Rookie practices will be held at 5:30 p.m. when the Track Rental schedule permits. The Rookie races will again run from 9 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Practice fees are still $50 per driver.
DRAW FOR HEAT RACE POSITION - The draw will again be open on Mondays. The draw closes promptly at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons.
DRIVERS WITH HARDCARDS - You will still need to go to the Pit Shack to draw on either Monday or Tuesday. The draw closes promptly at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Also, please note that hardcards do not entitle you to free Open Practice. You will still need to stop by the Pit Shack, pay and get a practice wristband.
CREW MEMBERS OR FAMILIES WITH HARDCARDS - You do not have to go to the Pit Shack. You may proceed directly to the Gate 26 Underpass where you will need to present your hardcard to security. They will verify your picture ID and scan the barcode. If you leave, but plan to come back that day, you will need to "scan-out" or you may not be re-admitted.
