INDIANAPOLIS - More than 110 cars packed the pit area of Indianapolis Speedrome for Saturday's Blood Hound Underground night at the races, featuring the KOIL Tour RACEceiver Legends and Bandoleros. Late Models, Stocks and Hornets were also on the card.
The RACEceiver Legends were on hand for the RACEceiver National Touring Series Regional Qualifier stop at the Speedrome. The field was large enough to split the Semi-Pro feature and combine the Pro/Masters division.
Local hotshoe Rodney Smith led the Pro/Masters qualifications with a lap of 13.953 seconds. Bryon Stowe and Kyle LaPier split the heat race victories.
Masters driver Smith powered to the victory in the 50-lap main event, securing himself a spot in the feature at the RACEceiver Legends Car Asphalt Nationals later this season. Stowe was second with James Edsall third. Stowe was the top finishing Pro, also earning him a spot in the Pro feature at the Asphalt Nationals.
Oregon's Zach Zimmerly set fast-time with a lap of 13.908 to best the Semi-Pros. Mitchell Wilhelm and Christian Pahud were heat race winners.
Wilhelm and Pahud dueled for top position during the entire Semi-Pro feature, but in the end, it was Wilhelm with the victory, and the berth in the Semi-Pro field at the Asphalt Nationals in Las Vegas. Adam Roberts was third.
North Carolina's Bassett boys made the long tow to Indianapolis, and came ready to show their prowess. Young Guns driver Ronnie Bassett, Jr. blistered the pavement with a new track record 14.030 seconds. Ronnie and his brother, Dillon, a Bandit, both took home heat race victories, but it was all Ronnie when it came to the feature. Dillon came home second with Justin Campbell third.
