Foothill Ford KOTO Series Back in Action

ELKIN, N.C. - The Kevin Powell's Foothill Ford King of the Ovals Thunder Roadster Series roars back into action Friday night, May 11, at Friendship Motor Speedway.

A contingent of Georgia Thunder Roadster drivers are scheduled to make the trip to the 4/10-mile semi-banked track. Lanier (Ga.) National Speedway and most recent KOTO winner Brian Weimer is scheduled to make the trip. Weimer, a top-shoe in Georgia Legends, had just purchased his roadster days before the race at Lanier.

Georgia father and son duo, Dale and Adam Akridge, are also scheduled to make the pull from Georgia.

Michele Bumgarner, a 17-year-old phenom from Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines, makes her second start in a Thunder Roadster. Bumgarner is part of a diversity program sponsored by S&L Racing, a joint partnership between NFL greats Gale Sayers and Ray Lewis.

Rob Hall has been hard to beat in the Foothill Ford KOTO Series this season, winning the first three races of the season, but mechanical problems knocked him from contention at Lanier. Hall's misfortunes and 18th place finish cost him the point lead. Current leader Josh Waring is also scheduled to be on hand.

Title sponsor Kevin Powell will also make his second start of the season, pulling double duty in both his roadster and ASA Southern Modified.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. while spectator gates are set to open at 5:30 p.m. Adult grandstand tickets are just $18. For more information, visit www.friendshipmotorspeedway.com.
