The best move of the race award will be given to the driver who advances the most positions during each KOTO event. In the case of a tie, the driver starting the furthest back will receive the award. The winner will receive a new Hoosier Thunder Roadster tire from ABS Insulating.
"We are excited to have ABS Insulating aboard for 2007," said Darrel Krentz, the executive director of INEX, the international sanctioning body of the Thunder Roadster, Legends Cars and Bandoleros. "The King of the Ovals Series is always competitive, and it will be great to reward the hardest charging driver."
ABS Insulating installs thermal insulation and seamless guttering on single-family homes around metropolitan Charlotte and multi-family buildings throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
Steve Carter, co-owner of ABS Insulating, will also be making his Thunder Roadster debut in the Foothill Ford King of the Ovals Series this season. In 2006, ABS Insulating, along with insulating companies, Certainteed and Johns Manville, sponsored Jesse Bunnell's No. 96 Thunder Roadster. Bunnell will continue in the car this season.
"We got involved with 600 Racing through Jesse, who works as our production manager," Carter said. "We really enjoy the KOTO Series - the idea behind it, getting to go to different tracks. We like racing with the same guys every week, the camaraderie at the track is a lot of fun. It is just a really fun series."
Carter comes from a racing background, running an International Hot Rod Association quick rod dragster and a Legends Car before the Thunder Roadster.
The Foothill Ford King of the Ovals is a 13-race series throughout the Southeast for the Thunder Roadsters, an open cockpit spec racers modeled after the 1960s Watson Roadsters. The series is scheduled to visit seven different tracks in four states during the 2007 season including a July 28 event at the half-mile Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
