Krentz Tops Roadsters at Concord

CONCORD, N.C. - D.J. Krentz made the most of the King of the Ovals Thunder Roadster Series' first visit of 2005 to the half-mile track at Concord Motorsport Park April 16.

Krentz held off challenges from Thomas Van Wingerden, Drew Calhoun and Kyle Beattie to win his first KOTO race of the season, breaking the strangehold Beattie had on the series after winning the first two events.

Van Wingerdan was second while Calhoun, Beattie and Jim Fulharty rounded out the top five.

Beattie leads the point standings by three over Calhoun while Krentz is 21 points out of first.

The next event on the KOTO schedule is April 30 at South Boston (Va.) Speedway. The event marks the first time the Thunder Roadsters will race on the historic Virginia track. The UARA Late Models will also be in competition at the track.
